Privacy Policy
This policy explains how The Young Adviser ("we", run by Damien Stoltz) handles personal information on www.theyoungadviser.co.za, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
- Forms: the name, email address, optional mobile number and message you send when you register for a webinar, request a consultation, ask a question, apply for membership, subscribe, or contact us, plus any extra answers on that form (for example your preferred date).
- Accounts: if you create an account or sign in with Google, we store your name, email address and the profile details you add (company, designation, FSP number, mobile).
- Membership and payments: your membership status, the courses and tickets you have bought, and your lesson progress. Card payments are handled by PayFast; we receive confirmation of the payment but never your card details.
- Members' network: if you are a member and choose to post on the network board or create a directory profile, the name, business details and contact detail you enter are visible to other active members.
- Referrals: the details of a client you refer (name, email, optional mobile, type of cover and notes). By submitting a referral you confirm that the client has agreed to you sharing these details with us.
Why we use it
To respond to you, deliver the education and services you request, send the schedules, newsletters and updates you asked for, run your member portal, and handle referrals. We do not sell your information.
Who handles it
Your information is stored with Google Firebase (Google LLC), which provides our database and sign-in. Payments are processed by PayFast. Google may process information on servers outside South Africa. If you choose "Continue with Google", Google handles that sign-in under its own privacy policy.
Cookies and tracking
We do not use advertising cookies or analytics. The Home, Learn and article pages load our published webinars, courses, blogs and podcasts from Google Firebase, which means Google receives your IP address when you view them. Beyond that, no third party is contacted until you submit a form or open the member portal. After you sign in, Firebase stores a sign-in session in your browser so you stay signed in.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and referral records for as long as needed to serve you and meet our legal obligations, and then delete them. Ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, object to its use, or withdraw your consent by emailing info@theyoungadviser.co.za or calling 063 210 7452. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
